Our teenagers today live in a world of inconsistent messages, violence, and pressure to succeed. A conversation of Mental health awareness must happen to help young people understand that hope and resources are there when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.
WILL Robinson took his life at age 17 on January 14th, 2016. WILL lived in Loudoun County, Virginia and loved music, people, and being curious about life. He left behind many friends and family members who have been moved to help spread the word of Love and that it's never too late.
This 55 minute music driven High School production reminds us we are not alone. The goal of A WILL to Survive is to talk about depression, suicide prevention, hope, and accepting others and yourself no matter what life challenges you might face. With a sensitive and thoughtful script, this show will inspire and educate students about better ways to manage life when it gets to a place where it seems too hard to handle. “After watching A Will to Survive, I know how powerful it is. This performance, combined with a moderated discussion, successfully compliments LCPS’ efforts to promote mental wellness, increase early detection of mental health issues, reduce suicidal behavior, and encourage help-seeking behavior and access to mental health treatment. The success of is not surprising, given the positive reports from our middle school communities regarding how Behind the Label both inspires middle school audiences to reach beyond perceived limits while also promoting empathy.”
