The Same Sky Project is an umbrella term that encompasses our traveling group of performers who advocate for and promote messages of empathy, love, inclusion, acceptance and inspiration through music and performance. This initiative was created by members of A Place To Be in 2011 as a way to develop a method of understanding for individuals who may be deemed "different" from society. This powerful project helps us realize that we are more than just our "labels". The Same Sky Project started with "Behind the Label", a show performed by 15-20 teens and young adults to teach the importance of embracing yourself and viewing others with empathy. Our newest show, "A WILL to Survive", debuted Fall of 2016 and is raising awareness for suicide prevention in the form of a rock opera. We have seen over 35,000 Middle and High School Students since the project began, with the intent to see 10,000 more by the Spring of 2017, and to reach every Middle and High school in Loudoun County by the Spring of 2018. If you are a school looking to book the Same Sky Project for your student body, please contact our Executive Director Kim Tapper at email@example.com.
